Smoking cessation - community-based interventions
Working with NHS Salford, our social change team developed a range of interventions around the concept of Salford ‘Legends’- empowering local people who wanted to give up smoking to aspire to Legends status and supporting sustainable behaviour change.
Our integrated design and digital specialists developed a website www.salfordlegends.com to offer support to keep people motivated (via video case studies, top tips and a personal online tracker) and officially launched Salford Legends to media at The Lowry, with celebrity support from Salford Reds rugby league club. This social marketing activity coincided with high profile, targeted advertising on taxi cabs and bus stops.
Stop smoking advisors took a Community Health Bus out to a range of community venues, shopping centres and workplaces over a six week period to offer information to shoppers and passers-by on smoking. More specifically, they offered brief interventions, and where appropriate, a referral to the Legends Stop Smoking Service to support positive, long-term behaviour change.
Drawing on our expertise in SO Change (Social Change + Organisational Change), this social marketing campaign was underpinned by a wider programme of work with our organisational change team to improve service efficiencies and drive performance.
