Health and migration - tackling health inequalities

Our social researchers completed a major piece of research for East Midlands Councils, on behalf of the East Midlands Strategic Migration Partnership. The aim was to work with regional service providers to bring together a comprehensive knowledge bank which explored the key public health issues affecting migrant communities.

The ICE team engaged with a wide range of partner organisations across this large and diverse region to gather specific and professional insights into the types of migrants present in the area - such as asylum seekers, and economic migrants (both EU and non-EU) - and the main public health issues and health inequalities affecting these groups.

To supplement research undertaken as part of desk-based research, our social change  researchers also conducted two stakeholder workshops and 20 in-depth interviews to provide further detail and real-life examples.

We also conducted future engagement work with East Midlands Councils and the stakeholder group to further inform the development of a practical toolkit to showcase best practice and collate related research results into a single, definitive database.
