Bridging health inequalities - people-centred insight
Sustainable futures for Doncaster’s most deprived communities – that’s the vision we have been supporting through a key research project in South Yorkshire.
Alongside Doncaster Development Trust, formerly New Deals for Communities, our social change team worked with both communities and stakeholders to identify and address some of the key challenges facing local people.
Firstly, our behaviour change specialists carried out focus groups and on-street surveys to explore people’s experience of services across three key areas: smoking, physical activity and educational attainment.
Our organisational change practitioners also did depth interviews with a variety of organisations - including local authorities, police and local charities amongst others - to engage local people and gauge wider issues such as communication and funding processes.
Together these findings formed the basis for strategic and tactical recommendations, which we shared with a range of key stakeholders. These provide practical steps which will help the Trust work more closely with partners to deliver stronger, more people-centred services, and support positive, sustained behaviour change for both individuals and wider communities.
